Yay our trip is tomorrow...

Woohoo Ireland tomorrow! That's what our brains say when we talk about it...

but our hearts say.... no Chloe for a week :(.

It could just be me but her situational awareness seems to have gotten stronger in the last two weeks. She notices and cares when daddy's not home. She'll say daddy's workin' or something like that.

And then last night she didn't want to go to bed since he wasn't home yet so she fell asleep in my bed watching Tangled (best Disney movie ever!). She was so adorable.

But I know she'll be ok with my mom and she'll have fun.

I don't think it makes us bad parents for wanting to take a vacation and in the future she'll probably go with us but she's so small now and taking on a 10 hour plane ride wouldn't be fun for us (or the other passengers).

Unfortunately if we miss her a ton we'll probably going to come back with a butt load of stuff for her.

Also we've setup so we can video chat with her on my mom's computer so hopefully that'll help (and not make her sad).

Remembering a lost family member

So I realize it's been a minute since I last posted... sorry life and a certain game has gotten in the way.

We got to spend the weekend in Kentucky which was fun. It's probably the last time we'll be staying at Aaron's cousin's house since they'll have a baby of their own in June...

But this weekend was bittersweet.. As of this coming Friday Feb. 24 it will be the 1 year anniversary of the day my mother in law Cindy McGill left this world for a better one.

She was an amazing lady.

Cindy worked her butt off everyday to take care of her family and to build the business my husband runs today.

She was the type of person who would go out of her way to make sure you were happy and well fed. If you walked into her house she was guaranteed to ask you 10 times if you needed any food or drink.

I will never forget the first time I met her. Aaron and I were on our 2nd date and she came racing up the driveway in the Dodge Ram and jumped out the of the truck sobbing. She had been trying to get hold of Aaron on his phone but since he had no signal she couldn't reach him. Turns out the reason for her crazy tears was there had been a wreck on Briley pkwy and she thought we had been in it. So after a lot of hugs between them she looks up at me standing on the porch and says I didn't want to meet you this way but hi I'm Aaron's mom.

In 2009 she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. On July 1st of the same year she had a double mastectomy. But bone scans did show that she had some spots to be concerned with a few months later.

On April 23 2010 she received her 2nd diagnosis and started her 2nd round of treatment. She even tried a medical study but while on the study her platelets kept dropping so they had to take her off.

She went from a size 14 to a size 0 during all her cancer treatments.

Around Oct of 2010 the cancer had spread to her brain. They treated it with radiation but it only helped a little while. We got to spend one last Thanksgiving and one last Christmas with her. The only ones that Chloe ever got to have with her.

She got to hold my daughter Chloe when she was less than a year old but never got to see her walk.

Chloe unfortunately will only know her from stories she is told and from the pictures we have of her.

We miss her so much as does the rest of the family.

It hard to believe it's been a year.......

To every woman out there if you find a lump do not wait, get it checked out ASAP.

My mother in law found hers in Oct of 2008. She didn't go get it checked because she was scared and because her daughter was pregnant and she didn't want to put any extra stress on her since she had had complications in the past. By the time she was officially diagnosed the first time it was the size of an egg and attached to her chest wall.

Do not wait on something like that. There are too many people in this world that would miss you if something would happen to you.

This is one of my favorites
Chloe's only holidays with Cindy

This was taken a few days before she passed. She was able to give Chloe a hug.

Just a Quick Update

So as our trip draws closer I decided to finally look for my passport... after a lot of looking I found it. Yay!

Ooops its never been updated, so it still has my maiden name on it.... well that won't do. And our trip is 6 weeks away and according to the government passport website it takes 4-6 weeks to get it corrected.... wow really thats what I get for not looking sooner.

So now I get to call them bright and early to find out if its really taking them 6 weeks or if I should pay the extra $60 to get it expedited.... yikes!

I see a frustrated Katie tomorrow.

On the bright side I've talked to my new boss and he understands my situation so he knows I'll be on the phone a bit tomorrow... you see what I did there? New boss aka my husband.

On that note it's been three weeks of working with him and its not been so bad. I get the pleasure this week of finally working out his book issues since he was a bit lazy in recording transactions for November and December. It's been fun and I'll soon be learning to sew from the master.

So far I'm not allowed to touch the machines aside from threading them... to be honest I can't blame him.

I'm working on prettifying the Facebook page for it and maybe get a real webpage up for it later this year. I'm itching to use my outdated knowledge from college. haha

Adios :)
